There, I've said it. I hope England get knocked out as soon as possible, so I don't have to put up with stupid flags on stupid peoples stupid cars. My secret desire is to take my garden shears and cut them all off! I hate most other sports too, so don't think I'm biased!

What I don't get is, the moment the English team gets knocked out of these competitions, everyone sheepishly folds up their flags and puts them away until the next time. Shouldn't I be allowed (socially) to fly the flag whenever an event episode of Coronation Street is broadcast? Or a new season of Doctor Who begins?
You're right. I have no objection to the flag itself. It's just that it's been hijacked by sports fans, particularly football. These people only whip themselves up into a frenzy of patriotism when football is involved. The thing that gets me is that when England perform terribly and get thrashed, the very people who are waving these flags will be slagging off the England team, and saying how crap they are.
I don't like hypocrisy, and I am ashamed to admit, I'm mildly misanthropic.
